This webquest was designed as a project for a graduate course for the Educational Technology Master’s Degree Program at Grand Canyon University.


Learners- This lesson is designed for a fourth grade classroom.
Students should have some basic computer skills such as being able to gather information from the Internet. They should be able to read fourth grade level text. Students should have some experience filling out graphic organizers as well as working collaboratively in a small group activity.

California Content Standards Grade Four-
Narrative Analysis-
3.2 Identify the main events of the plot, their causes, and the influence of each event on future actions.
3.3 Use knowledge of the situation and setting and of a character's traits and motivations to determine the causes for that character's actions.


Educational Technology Standards for Students-

* interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media
* locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media.

Critical Thinking Skills: Based on Bloom’s Taxonomy-

• Students will identify villains in fairytales.
• Students will collect data about the villain.
• Students will analyze the reactions and actions of villains in fairytales.
• Students will make inferences and hypothesize what motivated the villain to act as they did against the story’s protagonist.
